Several of our practitioners are active in areas of the law which affect the agricultural and
resource sectors with particular focus on clients in farming, fishing, forestry and mining.
Service to clients from the agricultural community include requirements of business structuring, commercial and property transactions, tax and estate planning, intergenerational transfers of farms, and advice on environmental law requirements. Our lawyers have written and lectured extensively in these areas.
We assist farm clients in financings with Banks, as well as lenders
dealing exclusively with the farming community such as Farm Credit Canada
and the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board. We have represented clients dealing
with insolvency issues under the Farm Debt Mediation Act (Canada).
We have experience dealing with Dairy Farmers of Nova Scotia, the Nova
Scotia Egg Producers Board, Pork Nova Scotia and various regulatory
agencies and marketing boards involved in the area of agri-business.
