Born in Montreal, Michael Maddalena has lived most of his life in Halifax. He attended Dalhousie University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics before going on to law school.
“The law was an area of interest for me, and it dovetailed nicely with my experience studying the origins of modern government and administration during my undergraduate degree.”
Michael was admitted to the bar in 1982, and joined Burchell MacDougall LLP in 1999. His practice mainly serves small businesses and entrepreneurs.
“As you build a business, you deal with more complex issues, and you need a good lawyer.”
He guides business owners with estate and succession planning, as well as transferring ownership as organizations are passed to the next generation. During his more than 30 years in practice, Michael has worked and developed strong relationships with many businesses, and his clients benefit from that experience.
“When you sit down with me, you’re getting a wealth of knowledge and insight into the legal system.”
